I think you'd want to at a minimum purchase a K27 which has a larger turbine and compressor wheel rather than attempt to improve the 3LDZ stock turbo.

You know, I have considered this, but I have run my hybrid and tuned to the hybrid and it suits me just fine.
The hybrid makes more CFM at lower pressure than the K27 and spools quicker.
I am also an amateur racer........
