The issue with the Autopower bars was/is they were using welded seam tubing that has a weld seam runing the length of the tubing. DOM is a better more consistent materal to work with and some sanction bodys rule out seamed tubing.
I think (but don't know for sure) that Auto power has stopped using welded seam tubing. This will not help ypu if you purchase a used one and the group you are racing with disalows it.

"Note that roll bars without terminal mounting plates braced on the frame either on or parallel to the floor are not acceptable."
I believe the DAS bar mounts to the side of the front rail, no?

2005 rule book
"The mounting area of bolt-in roll bar/ roll cage must be backed by a plate of a size equal to that of the uppermounting plate with a minimum thickness of 3/16".
I don't have a copy of the 2006 rule book. Can anyone tell me if the language cited by Colin replaced the above language? If so, why? The 2005 language required a 3/16" mounting plate ... and the 2006 just requires a plate? I'm confused.
I can think of severaal guys going to the Sebring CR that will be very surprised if this a really intended to make the DAS bar illegal. I rather doubt it.

PCA Club Racing 2006 Rule Book
The language for roll bars or cages has not changed from 2005, from what I recall. If I'm wrong, someone please refresh my memory.
