Do Cup Cars have spares? and if not are they reinforced for impact in some way?

At any rate, I run with my spare in because my fat turbo is required to be even fatter for PCA.

Agreed. That was part of the point that I was making in a later post, that just removing the weight, without adjusting the car may not give the desired result.
Forklift: Have you considered a lightweight battery? I picked up the 15lb odyssey 680 battery as part of my winter weight reduction plan. It obviously doesn't have the reserve capacity of a full size battery, but it will take some weight off the car.

Back to the issue of removing a spare tire and the front sitting visibly higher. I take it you have near stock spring rates. I can stand on my front bumper and the car doesn't budge.

My car has been set up without a spare and have very little in the front of the passenger compartment except for its tank and 15lb Odyssey battery.
The early cars had the spare lying on its face/back, which doesn't look like a deformable structure. I've not seen any data on the 911, but I would rather see the front end collapse on itself while leaving the passenger compartment intact. Now the 964 and later cars have the spare sitting upright and against the firewall?

The 964 and the 993 have the same layout. The gas tank is somewhat upright and next to the firewall, while the spare lies flat at the bottom, almost in front of the front axle.
