Default Hoosier RS05

I've been checking the tire rack for the new RS05 and I see that they dont carry the 285 size. They go from a 275 to a 305 on 18" size. Is it related to the problems the 285 size had on the RS04?
Has anyone driven on the RS05?

Danny,
I got an email from Hoosier and they are making the R3S05 in a 285...however, they still don't recommend putting it on the rear of our cars. Here's their quote:
Even though we have improved to the R3S05 model, we still recommend not using this size on the rear of your Porsche. If used on the rear you will experience accelerated tread wear.
Are you about to hit the track again? Any chance you'll be at Sebring?
Cheers,
Rick

Danny,

They are coming out with a 295/30-18 specifically for the back of 911's (and some other cars from what I've been told). I've got a set of 245/305's but will go to 245/295's when the 295's come out.

I have run 285's RS05/ on the rear of my 993 set to 2.5 deg of neg camber and wear was pretty even. I have only put a couple of days on them, but I drove them extremely hard. I hope the 295 fits since I am running out of room on my narrow body C2. The setup was of course much faster than the MPSCs in initial grip and warm up.

Thanks guys for the info. I figured that they would produce a 285 but i was really qurious why Tirerack does not carry this size...

Rick, I'm gearing up to do the TWS race in TX. No chance for me to do Sebring this year. You guys should drive down to TWS if you have a chance in March. Its a great club race on a very fast track, although not as fast as Sebring which I dont think its actually a bad thing as my HP/weight ratio defficiency was pretty amplified there,,,

George, did you actually manage to stuff a 305 in the back of the car????

Ahhhhh, maybe.

Yes, they fit fine. Here is a pic of the same size 245/305 in Hoosier SGS's. I don't have any pics with the R3S05's.

That looks hot George! Do you have any special offsets? Will we see you at the TWS club race?

Thanks Danny. I don't remember the offsets off the top of my head but I ordered them from Forgeline and they fit perfectly (I can't say enough about how impressed I am with them).

I should be at the TWS race. I'll be a little behind the curve as I've only driven it twice. It will be nice to finally put a face with typed words.

Danny, what date is the TWS club race? I'll be in Houston for the GP on the weekend of May 13th, IIRC.

I have run the 295s on the back of my GT3. My wheels do not have quite enough negative offset to run the 305s, and so I bought the 295s. They worked fine initially, but went off after about 7 run sessions, whereas my friends GT3 with the 305s said that they lasted the whole 3 days (about 12 sessions).
