I've got a factory roof rack that you can use to help you transport a set of track tires!! You can then use MPSC's, which are perfect for you car.
still got lot's to learn that's for sure.

thx, but i have a hitch so i may get a tire trailer instead. with MPSC/toyo/yokos i would just drive to the track. it's a different story with v710s.

I'd go with the KD's for now and keep your eye out for Yoko Advan's. I've seen several very fast 996's running KD's and their owners had very nice things to say about the tire.

alas, the widest is 295 in 18" fitments with a treadwidth of 9.8"

so an 11" wide rim is actuall ~12" right? 9.8" tread and 12" rim lip = WAY STRETCHED

Ah, I misunderstood the post, I think. You're right about 11" rims actually being closer to 12" wide. But that doesn't really matter in this context, since the additional width comes from the thickness of the rim lip, which is outside of the tires once they're mounted.

If we're talking about the Neova, I don't know where you got the treadwidth figure of 9.8". TireRack lists it as 11.5", and suggests 10" or 11" rims as ideal for the 295/18 tire. I think you're good to go if that's the tire you decide to run. (You might even see better performance with the skinnier tire, since the 11" rim will give you a mechanical advantage with the sidewalls of 295 tires, compared to 315's. Then again, with a 315 or wider tire, you've got a better-shaped contact patch, and can run slightly lower pressures.)

I've considered trying 275's in the back with my 17x11" wheels, just for the sake of being able to run Toyos on my car.

Jack, Will a 12" wheel fit on your car? I'm considering the body mods to run 9.5 and 12 x 18 wheels. Either 275/335 RA-1, 265/345 MPSC or 275/335 Hoosier.

Carlos, yes many mod points some simply due to the obtuse rules (like 40 points for a brake upgrade? let's get real). I'll decide early next week if the Turtle will get a major makover during January (RSR flares, wing and other bits). I'm busy doing a forced diet this weekend. The interior is gutted and glue removal is in progress, lower dash will be removed and I may pull the gas tank to remove all the useless stuff that's between it and the firewall. I'm trying to get to 2500 lbs or less. And yes, the sun roof removal is on the list too. With RSR flares in fiberglass and a fiberglass trunk/hood, I should be able to get there. 2500 lbs/300 hp is a lot better than 3200 lbs/250 hp. I hate to calculate the class that 9.5 and 12" rims will put me in.

Tom, I could fit 12" wheels. But you can't get two-piece wheels like mine made that wide. 11" was as far as my builder would go. As a result, I'm running 1-inch spacers, and have slightly-narrower-than-RSR rear flares.

i was talking of the KDs. tirerack states the treadwidth for the 295 as being 9.8" with a section width of 11.6". seems really stretched to me.

i thought 275s would be too narrow for 11" wheels

Tirerack says you can run the 295/18's on 11.5" rims, even.

looks like a fun project. with wide tires/wheels maybe we'll see ya next season in TT4 you still have 90 points to play with.

John: Stephanie gave me a set of wheels for Christmas. Well, she gave her blessing to buy one set on her knowing that I would only buy them if I put on the RSR flares. I'm planning to buy 2 sets of Jongbloed wheels in 9.5 and 12 x 18.

Jack: Thanks. I'm hoping that I'll be able to go a bit faster in the turns and have a prayer at keeping up to you.

Carlos: Looking forward to meeting you next month.

BFG KDs and Kuhmo MXs both rock.
