Geo,

Too sad, really. Only 34 years old.

When I first read of his illness, I hoped maybe he could beat it like Lance Armstrong. But, I was also familiar with his diagnosis, having lost a close friend (one of my H.S. buddies) to the same form of cancer nearly two decades ago (he was 35 when he died).

A great champion, and a great loss.

What a shame. I remembered watching the rally where he clinched his WRC title and I was very happy for him. RIP, Richard Burns. You will be missed.

Very sad indeed. Richard Burns was a supremely gifted driver who rose to the pinnacle of the sport purely on talent and determination. I remember watching him at the RAC rally a few years back. It was dark and fog was so thick, rally crews couldn't see any more than a few feet in front of them. On that stage, Burns obliterated the competition. When asked how was he able to go so fast in near zero visibility conditions, his reply was that he didn't have to see, only listed his co-drivers read him the pace notes. To me, this is what made Richard Burns one of the all time greats.

Damn that's sad news.

Great rally driver and seemed like a real nice person, and what I've heard from his Finnish competitors, he really was.

That is really sad. it seemed as if he was doing better but I guess the odds were against him.

34 is too young to die.
