993tt seat weight and track mod questions?
Looking to cut some weight by maybe switching to sparco's just for DE's. Not sure about how much weight it'd save?
Removed the spare tire and am considering new door panels and maybe a spare lightweight battery/rear wiper delete/2wd mod. Read some folks say these mods are worthwhile while others say no.
Hoping to get this car around Gingerman in under 1:30. Best so far on ps2's has been in the 1:35 neighborhood.
MPSC's and losing the mufflers might help but w/ the cat bypasses might be kinda loud.
Anyway, the car is mainly street but was just wondering what folks thought about all this stuff.
Thanks

Change the seats. It's the first thing I did when I started to track my 993tt. Stock seats weigh a ton and provide no support at all. Was like driving around on a slippery bench seat while cornering.
Just remember to change the bolts holding the seats to a higher grade. The original ones are like butter and you don't want to have to drill one out !

Are you looking for one piece racing seating or adjustable sport seats?

The seat out of my 993 weighed 52 LB. That included the rails and all. You should be able to get a Momo/Sparco/Recaro bolted in at about 20 LB. depending on your choice of mounting hardware.

60# is a weight savings I guess. Looking for something to use for DE's only so maybe one piece instead of adjustables. Thinking maybe 2000's or evo's. Taking them in/out all the time so the stock bolts will have to go!

I was told to watch out for clearance issues with wide shoulder seats rubbing against the door. I did not have a problem with Momo Corse seats.
If I had kept my 993tt I was going to add PSS9 s and a whole lot of ducting to cool the front rotors. Brake cooling is a must on that car.

I have been using GT3 seats for two years and they are great. If I was going to do it again I would go with the Recaro model that is similar and get cloth. Leather looks great but is more expensive. You will save a bunch of weight and be much more comfortable on the track.

I ran the Sparco 2000 Pro on their sliders (no back brace) with the DAS Sports roll bar. What little street driving I did was bearable. Along with the Optima battery, I removed the carpet mats but there really isn't much you more you can gut and stay in a street car class......
