Richard,

No wonder my break was so short. According to your post I can't even spell sabbatical!

Do you still have the trailer and the red 911?

Hi Bill,

Yes, I still have your trailer - still tows great too.

I have the 911 also, but have been driving 968s on the track for 2 seasons now and may try campaigning a 968 in PCA "F" by mid-season '06.

JR, You are a wealth of info about this car. Thanks much. Any other tips are greatly appreciated. The car was tested less than 2 hours in June of this year according to the seller.
Since you asked....it definitely needs a new seat and I would check the dates on the harness belts as they maybe 99's. I remember that I didn't like the way the windshield was siliconed in and I think it should be redone before you get up to speed. Also I would make sure there are door bolts on those lightweight doors before they decide to go airborne on you down a back stretch. A good management system and you're off! Other than that I think it's just inspect and freshen it up. I think I would also consider the engine as brand new and break it in yourself as such.

Obviously I really liked the car and I'm happy it went to someone who will finally get out and race the thing. Bill knows how much was invested in that car and it has only about 9 hours since 2000. I still have all 60 pages of receipts and history that Jim faxed to me back in July. Damnit I should have bought it last week.....Bill I Googled the original owner once and found some interesting stuff on him and the companies he founded or ran. He's a pretty big hitter in Silicon Valley, I'm sure you have the name, give it try! The car must have scared the bleep out of him because I've never heard or seen that name since....

PM if I can help, I'll be watching the results page with envy, so "throttle up"!

JR,

I noticed the seat from the pics and ordered a new seat and belts. I will check out the windshield and change to glass if we need to rebed it.

Sounds like you are a very methodical consumer. I spoke to Jim and one other person about the car and bought it the next day. I have no records but I am sure Jim will send them with the car.

I will PM you next time I retire from racing in case you want the car. All those wins drives the price up... (that was a joke!)

Bill, my money was on a 6 month sabatical, but then I forgot about winter in FA. Knew you could kick the habit. My next business venture is going to be developing a 12 step process to kick the track habit, however I am not pursuing that for at least 10 more years. My client base is right here on Rennlist.
Best wishes and continued success.

Bill if you'd like, PM me your fax number and I'll forward the receipts Sunday evening when I get home. I'm in Palm Springs for the revival of the Palm Springs Historic Auto Racing Festival this weekend. It's mid 80's and absolutely beautiful....

Yea right Chris. At my next enduro I will be trying to get away from your cup car! Are you racing Sebring? You should. The event is a absolute ball. I may co drive a '05 cup in Sebring enduro and my new car in B stock on hoosiers for the sprint.

1:55? maybe with you driving. I was 2:04:7 in the sun roof car so if this car (me driving) cracks 2:00 I would be shocked. 1:55 sounds like II proto type times.

Maybe you'll be able to break into the 1:20s at Summit Point now!

Right Larry, in the rain!

Gregg, 130's must have been in 2001 when R's had a 18 month wait.

HSR Daytona race results

HSR is allowing wet cups now. Look at these results. My old car was 5th but look down the list. wet cups, GT3RS, raining? Must be a story here.

Larry,

I will settle for 2nd. Its rare more than 2 or 3 max 3R's show up for the same event. Maybe a big race like Sebring. I have not looked. I don't plan on racing much with PCA. Sebring and Watkins Glen maybe.

1,600 posts. I am catching you Larry!

Rick DeMan did a 1:17:5 in his GTA car this year and was 1st in class. I think Tom Pank had a 1:16 in his 2005 GT3 cup

These are very fast cars considering the weight to HP. 2450 and 450hp should be a real hoot

Bill I think PCA just raised the minimum weight for GTA to 2550 for the 06' season. I can't imagine that car is really 2450 but you'll have to let me know!
http://www.pca.org/pca/clubrace/2006_rules_changes.htm

" 7. Change the minimum weight for GTA to 2550 lbs (additional 100 lbs over current). Reason: The factory race cars (GT3R, RS, RSR, and GT3 Cup) all weigh at least 2550 lbs. The owners of these cars did not want to be forced to start lightening the body to get down to the 2450 lb weight."
