Default Ultra high performance driving school by skip barber

Hi guys,

I have done about 15 track days with PCA, BMCCA, NASA, Trackmasters, and others for the past 3 years, and autocross quite regularly. I am thinking of doing the ultra high performance driving school by skip barber. Has anybody here done that? I wonder if I will learn alot by taking the school. I guess what I want to know is, is it worth the money for me who has the above experience?

Thanks, any comments appreciated.

Richard

Richard, what are your goals and what do want to accomplish in the next one to two years?

I did the one out at Laguna Seca. It's all autocross and car control exercises. It's basically a 2-day drifting school in the Vipers. It really helped me get comfortable sliding a car around, and by sliding I mean excessive slip angles, not something you would do on track. I feel much more comfortable approaching (and exceeding) the limits of my 911 on track now that I've done it.

earlyapex and chrisp, what I want to learn is to be able to slide the car, not just small slides, but powerslides. I talk to the skip barber sales guy, but he says there is no dedicated time for drifting, so I am not sure if this is the right school for me. Bondurant had a drifting school, but they cancelled it due to high costs. But from chrips's description, this is something that I want to do.

Thanks.

Ask about the car control clinic too if you only have one-day to commit and/or prefer the open wheel car.

I forgot to mention that we did some skid pad work in the Dakota's too.

Did you do the car control clinic? Will I be sliding more in that program?

Richard,

You can get a lot of practice stepping out the rear end of your car on an autocross. I see that you're in the bay area so I encourage you to attend some of the Loma Prieta autocrosses. We get at least 10 runs a day and instruction is available. All this for $30!
