Default Mosport PCA Results

If anyone has them I'd be interested. Wish I was there!

The club race was amazing to watch as always. I was there shooting video footage from different areas of the circuit. I'll post a compilation video up from Mosport by mid-late August, so stay tuned

Here's what I remember

GT3S: 1st Roy (he won the yellow group by over 40 seconds, and lapped at least 80% of the field), 2nd Steve Berlack
GT4S: 1st John Stickler, 2nd Jim Newton
GT5S: 1st Jim Hamblin
C: 1st Chris Castagna, 2nd Charlie Boyer (Jupeman)
D: 1st Mike Trombly, 2nd Allen Noveck, 3rd me
GTC1: 1st Bob Scotto, 2nd Jeff Burger, 3rd John Colasante

Chris Castagna won the enduro in group one. He was wicked fast in his 930...a good 3 seconds faster than the next person. I'm not sure what the rest of the enduro results were. I was in 5th overall at the 50 min mark, but got screwed with a nearly 8 min pit stop. I managed to get by Allen Noveck at the start, but I knew I couldn't keep him back there for long, as he's a solid 1.5+ seconds faster than me. At least I got to pass him once!

Anyway, it was an awesome weekend. There were very few incidents, with the one of note being in the red group. A car blew it's engine and dumped oil all down 4. Rick Demann & Eugene McGillycuddy both slipped and were taken out (I think they were running 3rd and 4th at the time). Eugene's car actually flipped, but landed right side up. Amazingly, neither car looked too bad (in fact, I think that Eugene's car was back for the enduro!). There were some amazing pictures of it that were shown during the Sat night dinner.

Colin;

Congrats on the 3rd.. The new owner of my red 993 (with a turbo-s tail) was going to race it. Do you have a timing sheet? I'd like to see what kind of time he was able to run. His name was Mike Vong.

Thanks;

Don

Here's the fast laps for D from the spring race:

Mike Trombly: 1:34.932
Allen Noveck: 1:36.545
Me: 1:37.846
Tim Sanderson: 137.170
Mike Vong: 142:131

The red 993 was also in the Enduro, and either Mike figured it out, or someone else was driving, 'cause it was way faster: 1:36.554

That is a dam shame, Gene was just getting that really pretty new car up to speed and Rick had all ready had a minor ding on his car when he came over the crest of turn #2 and found some one way off speed in the racing line. Maybe lucky I broke (not really!) I could well have been right in the middle of that one.

Congrats to Chris Castagna! The kid is really showing his stuff. FYI he turned a 1:30.6 in practice 3 in a 2800+ lb class C prepared 930. Dam youg punk put my best time right in perspective considering a lot less weight and a lot more HP

Amen! I had the priviledge of having Chris instruct me at WGI/Cojote last week and the thrill of watching him and the Roketman nose to tail passing me on the outside in the carousel. He is a true talent and a great young man. Plus anything he can do to humilate that old man of his is gravy.

Hmm, I couldn't play the video for some reason. I had heard Trombly was looking for a US Cup when I was at WG. I wonder if he bought Berlack's car ? ... probably. Nice drive Colin, congrats on 3rd . Sounds like D class is really heating up. There are some very fast cars / drivers in this class now. Surprising that Noveck got beat up there. MT must be very quick. If you are going out to Road America, you will get to face another in a very quick D car, a 993 believe it or not.

Yes we fixed Genes car and had it out for the enduro. After holding a 45 second lead the yellow/double yellow, and mystery timekeeping took over.. we decided to pit when the double yellow came out, however two cars stopped in OUR ASSIGNED PIT BOX!!!!........ AA of Canton were in box 19, their driver however was incapable of stopping in his assigned pit box, Then a mystery team shows up and stops stops their car in the other part of our pit box.

Granted we left the driver change/mandatory stop in first overall...we lost first place.. finished second overall, first in class, after having a car roll in someones elses oil, who should never have been allowed on the track.. I have video of the offending car laying down a smoke screen..

I gotta hand it to you guys. You guys worked hard at getting that car back together, and it was awesome seeing it roar out of the paddock on Sunday. Bravo.

Wait a minute. Didn't Roy Chin (sp.?) in his red 993 supercup car lap EVERYONE, and therefore win both C class as well as overall in that group?

John Colasante's engine blew with about 5 or 6 laps left in the race and DNF. I suppose that could be good for 3rd if there were no other cars in that class?

I dunno. Guess the official results will clear this up for me.

Richard
