You might want to rummage through this thread

Cage thread

The pics that I posted are toast (pic server went dead); I'll try and replace them sometime in the near future.

I have a Stable Energies bolt-in cage in my Boxster. My only complaint is that it weighs quite a bit. I would have to assume a welded cage would be lighter for the equivalent amount of protection.

+1 for RacerX. A weld in cage completely transformed my car: I thought my car was stiff before but I was clueless as to how much flex there actually was.

Nice looking cage. Beefy sill plates and I dig the halo style main hoop with the triangulating braces. The mitered lengths on your driver's door X-brace match up pretty good too. Harder to do than one might think.

Actually, it is almost impossible to get your helmet to bang on that tab. Ground it off anyway.

Make sure the welds are 360. NASA is going crazy on that right now. I have gussets (which by all accounts are stronger than a 360 weld without a gusset) and they want me to cut the top to have the top bars of the cage welded 360.

FWIW NASA requires NASCAR style door bars and supposedly will reject the X type if your door has been gutted.
