Default Blue racers tape that leaves no residue?

Hi,
An instructor mentioned there is a blue colored racers tape which is easier to remove and doesn't leave the residue on body work like some others. Does anyone know where to purchase this and is there an product name.
Thanks

The tape I have been usuing lately is just blue painter's tape. If you take your time and put it on well it stays on pretty good, at least in dry weather.

Does it also come off easy without residue?
Thanks

masking tape (painter's tape) works good - no residue, but it will not stick to itself very well at all. Do not overlap the tape.

And unfortunately, it's not all that effective in a single layer. Still, it seems to be the shiny Corvette driver's tape of choice.

Gaffer's tape is THE stuff!
It's adhesive is strong, but comes off cleanly. It is a bit thicker than duct tape and offers better resistance to pebbles and the like since it is more cloth-like as opposed to duct tape which is more like fiber-reinforced vinyl tape. Find it at pro-camera (still or motion) or pro-lighting shops. Expensive, but worth it if you're looking at protecting surfaces.

I'm a fan of contact paper. You can even get CLEAR stuff, available about anywhere! Leaves no adhesive residue, either. Probably isn't as protective as the above alternatives but seems to be good enough.

Adhesive-backed contact paper is great. I use black on my black car. You can put more tape on top of it if you're worried about thickness -- the cool part is the thick tape's residue will be left on the contact paper.

I used it on my car for the entire week of the Open Track Challenge. It was the same contact paper on there, all week, and it came off without any drama at all.

You can see the contact paper on the hood, around the headlights, and on the leading edge of the rear fenders in this picture:
