It was great seeing all the rennlisters.

Our sprint race was a blast. BIll Chadwick did a great job qualifying and racing. We started side by side (Bill on pole, and me along side him)and ended almost that way. My qualifying time was 1:56.5 and my race time was 1:56.0. Bill qualifyied I think 1:55.7 and raced at 1:56.3 (if memory serves).

It was very fun, the second half of the race we were inches apart through many turns each lap. Bill as well as everyone else did a great job of driving!

I will digitize and post a video the last few laps of the race...

Not in the sprint.... in the enduro cup cars can hang or even overtake (Norm didnt do the enduro but 935 did) because the turbos cant go full tilt the whole race. They have to pace themselves.

a cup car can do 56 but its tuff.

No rain for a whole weekend...yea... maybe this is fun after all...

Also, was it just me or were there an unususal number of car-bending incidents? Maybe it is just a statistical fact of having such large fields...

Speaking of large fields....qualifying was a frustrating PIA....but once the flag fell it was awesome.... I was engaged, bumper to bumber, contesting almost every turn with somebody in position impacting situations... results weren't much, but for pure racing, it was the 2nd best race I ever had....

Finally... anybody know the status of the driver in group 1 that had the crash at the bottom of the outer loop? Looked kind of scary... is he ok?

Jupe was 1st in C and 14th overall out of 52 in Group 3. I was 3rd in class and 12th out of 60 in Group 2. We aren't sure where we placed in the enduro...somewhere between 1st and 3rd in class (there were two D cars ahead of us, but we're not sure if they pitted before the black flag). Jupe's best time was 2:09.1 and mine was 2:13.0 (Noveck ran in the 2:11s to win D).

I had an absolute blast in the enduro. I battled with 2 other cars for the entire 45 mins I drove, with them never more than 3-4 cars lengths behind me. Lucky for me, I could get a bit of a lead up the esses, as they would keep crushing me down the hill.

It was also awesome to watch Norm & Bill battle...they are just unholy fast. Chris Cervelli was also scary fast in his GT3 Cup (ran ~1:58 I believe).

Btw, I have got to get a cool helmet and/or suit for the Mosport enduro!

At the rookie meeting they said that the chance of going home with no damage averages out to 96%. Thus there is a 4% damage rate. With almost 250 cars that would work out to 10 damaged cars. They did say that if it rained this number would go way up.

Congrats to Jupe for winning C in his first race. For those of you who weren't there, Jupe's car is stock looking, I mean, take the wife out to dinner in it, stock looking. Even has the airbag steering wheel and those heavy cast Porsche wheels.

Now, who's with me to purpose putting the 3.6 Turbos in B class

I could only manage 2nd in the D class sprint, but had it gone longer than 9 laps I might have made it interesting. I was 5 seconds behind the leader at the end, but had been closing at a second per lap. Very tough break for Brett with that 968 blowing up in front of him. I got around that 968 a couple of laps before it blew, but it easily could have been me as well. I don't think it should have been allowed to race. It looked like a mosquito fogger on the grid.

Along with another car, I was just about to enter T2 when the 968 blew. We both got on the brakes immediately, and it was damn slippery. The smoke was so thick I didn't even see Brett until I was about 20 feet from him...very Days of Thunder. I agree that the 968 should not have been allowed to race.

I was slowly catching Brett, but I think you & Alan were just too far ahead even if it had gone the full 14 laps (plus Alan can run 2:11, and well, I can't!).

I was sneaking up on him, but I'm sure he would have put it in high gear when he saw me and needed to. He is very fast out there. My last lap was my best of the race at 2:13.2, although I don't think I had a clear lap all weekend. I got caught in traffic early and had to re-pass 4 cars including that 968. Glad I got by when I did, otherwise I think both Brett and I both would have been oiled into the wall together.

I'm sure you can break 2:11 pretty easily without traffic, based on how fast you were at Carolinas. We got in the 12s in the race last year, in E with 150 pounds of fuel/ballast and 3 bent valves

I hope Brett's car is OK, that is a really nice one like yours. Oil spins suck (BTDT, 2005 Atlanta PCA race, RR fender, wheel, axle, suspension, etc in GT3 cup).

Bill and Norm were very fast. They started lapping cars on the second lap. That Whale Tail is enormous. I was watch y'all from the timing area trying to write all the numbers down as you passed. Hard to read that X14 or was that 814..... You guys rock. Thanks for putting on a good show.

Jupe's even got stock headers on the car. Who runs stock headers on a turbo???

(And he is supposed to take the wife out to dinner in that car? He hasn't read that part of the manual yet!!!)

Mike, that's nice of you to say. Well, I think 2:10's at WG are possible as Noveck has proven in his car. Maybe next year with some more practice and a few set-up changes. CMP is like my backyard so I can really let it out there.

Default Rubber match?

Hi All
It was a great race with Norm! He had me covered at mid ohio and now I have edged him, can't wait for the rubber match.
FYI had a little too much push in the car. Great for qualifying with new tires 1:55.532 and steady 1:56's in sprint but abused them and times fell off in enduro. I sould have recognized sooner and made some ajustments had to really really work in second half of enduo, I was one whipped puppy at the end.
