Gee Leh, that seems to go by much faster than a lap from my video of this past weekend.

Very cool. Thanks.

Very nice. It looks like your seat moves quite a bit. Is that normal?

Great video! Was that first gear in T 7 and your cleanest/least traffic lap?

The seat moving is normal. Pullin alot of G's it does that.

Yeah 1st gear in 7. This was my qualifying lap. Was the fastest cause of the fresh tires, But not the cleanest. Wish i could done this lap without the orange 3rs and the racers group car out there.

thanks for the comments

and it is a very bumpy track at the highest G corners. Another car that ran in the sub 2:10's pulled his data and he hit 1.5 g's. Didn't have time to determine which corner but it would probably be 1 or 17/18. Top speed was 173mph....I clinch up just thinking about it.

That was incredible. I love the 6 gear downshift before that hairpin... if I tried that in my car, it would blow up! Talk about apples and oranges.

Do you have any rough specs for the car?

Wow, that's fun to see. Nice wide angle camera setup so we can watch the action in the cockpit, and great sound as well. Quite some downshifting. I can tell that you're doing a heel and toe throttle blip; are you also double clutching? I've never seen that kind of sequential downshifting through so many gears. Is that how it's typically done in those cars? Or are you unique? Most early 911 gearboxes would be a collection of little gear teeth and needle bearings after that kind of shifting. Very impressive...

That was a great video. I could really sense how close to the limit you were.

Rick, don't be afraid to post a vid just because a pro drops this gem on us!

I'm pretty sure that's how the GT3 RS and GT3 cups are shifted. They are amazingly quick.

kingleh, AWESOME video! I love the way those engines rev so quickly for such quick heal/toe shifting.

I've been in a Cup car and I've watched many; I think the RS gearbox is substantially similar. I've never seen that kind of sequential downshifting -- at least not through six gears. But it doesn't mean that Leh is doing it wrong -- it's just his style and he's obviously quite successful at it. Not really wanting to divert the thread, this opens up a more general question: is it best to skip gears while downshifting, or is it best to go sequentially? I'm sure this has been hashed out before on this forum and elsewhere, and I'm aware of some of the theories and opinions for each. Both camps exist: those who believe in skipping gears and those who don't. I would think that to go sequentially through more than a couple gears would start to be cumbersome and could diminish focus on braking and car placement. Then again, if you were brought up downshifting sequentially, to skip gears might take extra focus to accomplish successfully. Leh must have a good reason for doing what he's doing. Maybe it's specific to the GT3 RS. Maybe it's just habit. Leh, care to weigh in on this?

I used to skip gears but now i do it this way. To me u can slo the car down more and also u will always be in the right gear at the right time no matter what.

Its jus the way i do it, i dont think about it when im in the car...... just do it.
