I cannot believe that we've gone so far in this thread without the word 'drove' being used.

My parting words to a signed off student are the same I received from my first instructor years ago... "Now, don't $#%@ing hit anything!" Vocabulary is adjusted as needed, but the message sure worked on me. Knock on wood, haven't had a student hit anything yet.

I have a friend who was instructing a particularly difficult student. After a couple of sessions the student asked to be signed off. My friend's response: "Sign you off? At this point you're not even signed off to drive home."
