Default Looking for NA 944 for PCA/SCCA Racing

Guys;

A friend of mine is looking for a NA 944 to race in PCA and/or SCCA. He is looking for a developed car to race in either F, G, H, or I.

If you have any leads, please send them my way...

Thanks in advance;

Don

Default Try 44cup.com

You can try www.44cup.com .... several versions of the 944 are offered in the classifieds section. You can also contact the race director .... he typically has his eyes/ears/fingers out there on several 944(s) for sale. Good luck. Maybe you will even consider racing with their 944 series. Car counts are growing as the series develops. Have a great day.

If he is going to race SCCA, then be sure to get a 944S if he can. The 8v 944 sucks in ITS class of SCCA. I do have my 1983 944 for sale, but Tennessee is a heck of a long way from NY, plus the car is stripped for SCCA racing, and he would have to put an interior back in. If he is interested PM me, the car is real reasonably priced. The east coast if full of 944's for sale, though they do seem a bit high on price.

Second the 44cup.com recommendation. There are a number of cars including some fully set-up race winners for sale with spares in the Washington DC area.

Car counts for 944 Cup class are in the 20s for many races and are oversubsribed for the race next weekend at VIR - a higher turnout than you'll typically get for an H or I class club race.

The cars are equally split between ITS and PCA legal cars, with the ITS cars carrying a 100 lb or so weight penalty. THere is also success ballast for the top 6 cars to keep performance more equal between the cars.

For E and F cars, there is also a fledgeling supercup class that's growing in size.

See the link in my sig below and check out the rules and classifieds

Check out my add in the rennlist classifieds for info on my spec-944 for sale. While spec-944 was just recognized as a class in the PCA Zone 8, I don't know how it fits in with the other regions. This car is certainly fully prepped to race.

Good luck on your search!

Don,
I spoke to Karl a couple of weeks ago. If his car is gone, I think he may have another one that he built. I bought one of his S2 last year and I can say it was well done. I am not sure someone could build one as well set up for what he charges. If you talk to him tell you want a Eric special!! You may also check the PCA club racing newsletter, I thought I saw a racers edge built S2 in there as well. Good luck !
