Default New Trailer, Brand advise

So finally the Gods to be have authorized the purchase of an enclosed trailer along with the purchase of a Diesel Toy mover

I searched on the archives and although a lot of people talk about Aluminum enclosed trailer, the budget is very tight ( below 10K) and the need for a 24' makes it even more difficult... Pulling will not be an issue with the Toy mover so a heavier trailer is not an issue either.
I have been looking exaustively through the racers junk site and trailer manufactures sites so now I'm even more confused on the brand of choise...
It seems that quite a few rennlisters are Pace owners so I would like your advise on which brand seems to be the better one in terms of construction and value.

Also which are the absolutely MUST HAVE options for the trailer? While a nice floor would be nice I cannot imagine this been a must have...

Finally should I be wary of used trailers? What should I look for in terms of maintenance etc?

Thanks in advance!!!

Horton, Pace, Haulmark etc are all good trailers. My Dad rolled his pace trailer with the car inside (the car wasn't hurt except for scratches and a couple dents), we hit a huge deer leaving CMP, and my dad has backed it into random stuff like the steel poles at the gas station. Aside from the fact that it is cursed, we love it, its built like a tank. The huge deer did more damage than the rollover, but in any case you can take it down to south georgia and have it rebuilt, reskinned, whatever for $1000-2000. Make sure you get the heavy duty axles (they handle rollovers better) and heavy duty tiedowns, as well as the biggest tires you can get. The 215 goodyear radials that come on some trailers are ****, I replaced 3 of them on the way down to daytona.

I just purchased a Renegade by Rance Aluminum www.rancealuminum.com . I was very lucky and found one used. Mine is a 20' box with the vee adding another 4' or so. Build quality is excellent and am looking forward to bringing it to Sebring for it's maiden flight. As far as must haves E track on the walls is one of mine plus good lighting inside the trailer.

Cheers, James

Very important point! Stock trailer tires suck. I won a horse trailer in Ft. Worth once, loaded it up and blew 2 of the 4 tires before I got 100 miles. Make sure you get E load tires even if you have to pay extra!

Phil:

I am glad your dad isn't driving the cup car, he seems to have some bad luck.

By the way, I just bought an all aluminum Optima, built by Pace today. I hope it is good, seems to be high quality. I looked at Faetherlite, TNT and ATC trailers, the Optima seem to be the best value and weighs quite a bit less than my Haulmark.

Jim,
What is the weight of the Optima compared to the ATC?

Very good point. My trailer has 4 brand new tires with 2 brand new spares in addition to the Dually having 6 brand new tires.

Danny,

You dog . . . are you doing the Sebring race in February?

I think there's a TWS Motorsports Club event Jan. 15 - 16. You attending?
