Hey all;
Do any of you know - with certainty - of a sealant that is impervious to gasoline? The various fittings and flanges on my fuel cell did not seal very well with only a gasket, and I need to find a sealant that will NOT dissolve AT ALL.
Cheers!

I was told in a porsche training class years ago that Dow corning used to carry a product used to repair plastic fuel tanks. Never saw it but corning just like 3M carry some wicked stuff. I'm sure if it repairs plastic fuel tanks it would work as a sealer. However, I've always used the cork stuff even though you have to replace it from time to time. Teflon Tape !

However aviation gasoline is somewhat more stable than autogas and may have less nasty chemicals in it. Try your local airport for a shop that works on Grummans or Mooneys. My supplier is Fletcher Aviation in Houston, phone is 800 329 4647. They have a product for iside tanks and another for inspection plates. At least they could tell you the sealant manufacturer and you could try them for an autogas product.

The product that you are looking for is ..HYLOMAR. It is mfg. by several companies (Loctite and Permatex as eg.) under license from Rolls Royce.
It is designed specifically to be a fuel system sealer. It does not "kick" like RTV, but stays pliable.
