I emailed you the story. Nice weekend and another D class win for me. Jim took the overall in my race group and won GTC2 and the workers choice award too. Good Job Jim !!

Bill and Jim, way to go guys!

Next stop, Sebring. Jim, you need any co-drivers for that extra 993 or 964 cup?! =)

Thanks, I just got to say I was worn out after that race. For most of the race, Bradley and I were side by side in about every turn but 9. It was a great race, but I was happy to see teh checkered flag.

Kudos to you Bill, you had a great race and you had that US Cup wound up tight. Great driving.

Mitch: I think after reading your Miata story, you might shame me in one of my cars.

Norm,
I think Duncan Mcpherson won GT1R in a nice 935 clone. He has a 3.8 turbo in that baby and took pole with a 1:11. . I think he was third overall ? behind a pair of 996GT3R's. Leh Keen drove a great race in one of the 996GT3R's as he had a mechanical in qualifying and haid to start dead last !! He then worked his way up to second overall. That was an incredible effort. Steve Johnson won GTC3 coming from near last as well since he spun in qualifying and did not get a lap in. Cory Freidman had a good race in his 2000 Grand-am GT3 Cup which runs GTA. I think he was 4th overall ?

Moving into the Cup Car class has been both humbling and exhilarating for me. The competition is very quick and I have not reached the class some of these drivers have. What's fun about Club Racing is the opportunity for back of the pack competition. I have invariable found other drivers that I then have a mini race within a race. No podium but a great meet and greet with the guys after the features. Kim Linville and I have had a good time the last two races and I'll look forward to running with him again. You have some very talented drivers in this group and I've found that you can increase your pace by running with them. When you get into traffic though, you tend to get bogged down to their speeds. How frustrating.

Speaking of frustrating, I learned a lesson about not completing a pass going into turn 5. Got pinched and had to lift and you know what that does to rear-engined cars. The off course put me about 1/3 of a lap behind my group. I did though get back on the track, car felt good so back into the performance. I also found that you can do weird things with dust clouds in a car after one of those excursions.

Sebring is next and I know the Cup car field will be even better. I thought at Roebling though, Jim and Brad's race was a lot of fun to watch. To really good competitors in two really good cars. Way to go guys.

Great weekend! I had a blast watching my brother race Jim (great drive Jim!), but I knew that I wouldn't have any tires left the way you guys were dicing out there. The most fun of the weekend was the checkered start in the green group fun race. Congratulations to Tim Pruitt for winning I stock with a field of 17 cars, great job!
I also couldn't believe how quickly Leh and Steve came from the back of the pack.

Thanks Phil. This win was the best one yet. I have been thinking about the December Roebling Race since my rookie race at Road Atlanta in April.

The weekend unfolded just as I had planned, from practice sessions to learn the track, to Qualifying well (I did not plan the kitty litter visit on lap 4) and the management of my tire wear to have traction at the end of the race when I needed it the most. Scott Campbell and I had a great battle for 1 & 2. I have about 12 minutes of good racing, passing back markers and more dicing to the end of the race. The weather was great and the Florida Crown Region did a great job of hosting the event.

Thanks Phil, but I think I need to take a few lessons from you. Your qualifying time was "stellar". I know we are in the same group, but any advice on trying to gain that extra 1.3 seconds you had on me? I am all ears. I had a great time, all except for the 4 wheel drive i took at speed between turn 7 and 8. Your brother took the low road and I took the off road. So much for maturity, right?

Before the weekend I was shooting for 1:17's as I had only done a 1:19.4 last year on old pirelli's. So when my dad radioed that he got me at a 1:15.9 on his watch I didn't believe him.

As for tips on the extra speed, I watched my brother's video from the race and it looked like you guys were braking early for 1, I brake at around the 3 marker then accelerate through 1 and then lift or tap the brakes and turn in for 2. I think I was braking later and carrying the brakes further into 4 and 6?. Coming onto the front straight I put my right front tire in the grass a little and get on the gas as early as possible.

Norm,
Yeah, I remember seeing that yellow GT3RS, nice car. I think he was somewhere in the first half of the pack. Next time I go to a race, I'll pick up all the final score sheets !! It was a pleasure racing out there with those guys. One driver that really impressed me was David Coleman in a little 2 liter 914 GT5S car. He is a great driver and was all over me like white on rice. He made some incredible moves out there and really put that car on the edge with great control and finesse. I learned a lot watching him.
