Tim, that's an impressive result from so far back !! It always amazes me how racers can "make do" and handle adversity with incredible field repairs performed at track side, sometimes just moments before the race.

Hey Bill;

We talked about you a bit during the weekend. I kept looking at the scenes of several Bill moments and there was some pucker factor initially but I got over it. Second race in a Cup car and I'm still trying to catch up with it. I finished mid pack in both races but had some very cool competitive racing in both sprint and enduro. Stuttgart had it right on the sprint start. By the time I got to it, I was in "Days of Thunder" mode. Ducked low and missed the carnage and moved up about five spots. I saw Phil running through the grass with a huge dust cloud behind him and had to laugh. Came in fourth in class in the enduro. Cory was co-driver in two of the cars that beat me in class. I guess that means he beat me twice. I did experience the "thrill" of trying to get through a 90 minuted enduro on the Yokohama tires. The last 30 minutes was an excercise of sliding through turns and doing everything you could to hold it on the track. One more lap and I would have passed Stuttgart who's tires were even worse than mine! Really am looking forward to seeing you back at the track. We need the token Marine there...

Hey Mac,

Cup car hugh? Water cooled type? How about a pic. Just the rear end as I will never see that part ;>

I will certainly see you at Sebring but I am looking for some track time down south with NASA or the BMW/porsche crowd out of North Florida. I signed up with them a few years back.

Send me or post a pic of the new ride!

Phil beat you in the Sprint race with his 993 Cup that has 150 race hours on it? He races 3 times a month that car must be getting down on power by now! Just kidding Phil....

Bill;

Send me a pm with your email address. I'm too lazy to put pictures in this system.

The car's a 2000 GT3 Cup. One serial number off of the Autometrics car. Did the VIR club race in it for it's first outing. I am amazed at the difference between the 95 993 D class car and this one. (Duh you say...) I just got tired of you going so much faster than me so I upgraded into an offer I couldn't refuse.

When does it arrive? What has to be done to the car after it comes from the factory to make it fully "race ready?"

I can shed a little light on the 5 car pile up, since I was the driver of 686 that is spun around in the picture above. Someone was trying to pass several cars at the start of the race in the grass. In all fairness he said he was pushed out there. I can’t tell you for sure, since I was a head of all of it. The person tired to stop entering turn 1 and hit several cars one of those cars spun around and hit my left rear quarter panel, which in turn spun me around. I had qualified second in GTC3 and fourth overall so I was not to happy. Both of my the inner and outer rim half’s were bent, the rear upright cracked, and a tie rod was bent. Plus some panel damage. I did get the car back together for the Enduro the next day, but I was 2 seconds slowing in qualifying and 3 to 4 seconds slower in the race. Either my head was not in it or something is still off on the car. Luckily I have a few months to figure that out. Anyway it was interesting to get hit from behind. It is just a sudden smash out of no where.

CMP was my first victory in a PCA Club Race. I won the Enduro in I Class.

All race results have been posted on the AMB Transponder website.
