2005 PCA Club Racing rule changes posted

Wow, what happened to all that stuff about 94 octane gas for stock classes, reservoir shocks, light flywheels for the RSA in D, decreasing weight on the 95 993, ect. Hmmm just foolin I guess. I did see that the 997 and 997s will be in C class. I wonder if the 997S will give the 993 RS and 993 TT a run for C class dominance ?

Greg:
I would think that a well-prepared 993RS would handle a bit better than a porky 997S, despite the latter's hyrdo-electric-elastic-thermonuclear shocks and all. It would be great if PCA recognized that a stripped RS Clubsport ought to weigh less than an optioned RS Touring, but let's count our blessings.
Joe Fa... (oops, I cannot utter his name, his is banned forever from the Renn Kingdom) has just acquired a 997S and is pimping his ride. Maybe we can get him to track it alongside his white 993 RS clone?
Anyway, I want to applaud the rules committee for being so reasonable and attentive to everyone's concerns-- this is supposed to be about FUN and cameraderie, not about hair-splitting. The people spoke, and it looks like the committee listened, and they deserve credit for that.
Lee in D.C. (too slow to win under any rule whatsoever... )

Would someone really spend way more than it would cost to buy a good cup car to cut up a brand-new 997 and turn it into a competitve club-racer?
I could see this being an issue 2-3 years down the road...

I think plentiful 996 Cup cars will soon be a thing of the past as they have quit making them and the 997 Cups will be out of reach at near 200k. You are right though 2-3 years we will see more of the street 997's making it out there. There are actually a few street GT-3's running in B class and I can't really see the point of that either, but it happens.

Not talking about the 993RS, I would agree with you there. Talking about guys like me who are not allowed to run as a RS (basically any converted car, including your old one) due the the strict interpretation of the up date, back date rules.
My 993 would have to run at 3100lbs or so and with a 280hp stock 3.6 I am in a serious uphill battle against pretty much every other car in that class.

Man, I guess I can't lease a 911 anymore, throw in a DAS bar and club race my daily driver and still get the dealer to do warranty oil changes? Then turn it in when I can afford a cup car?!
In all seriousness, the rule changes look fine. I'm glad they didn't start equalizing stock classes with running gear modifications and we'll never see full weight parity. PCA still is an ameteur arena where the best money is invested in driving time.

That would be a riot if you could pull that off !! I wonder if it's been done before ?

A very clean mounted kill switch, Recaro bucket on stock rails, a second set of wheels (maybe), DAS bar, and window net (might be toughest part)....and the willingness to remove all the above when going back for warranty... why not!
