CC Dedicated Track Car ?

CC Dedicated Track Car ?
OK Guys, I am kicking around a new option. There is a tracking country club opening near my home, Autobahn Country Club.
http://www.autobahncountryclub.net/
I am considering becoming a member and buying a dedicated track car. I am looking at the turbo Diasio 962R. 350hp, 1,100 lbs.
http://www.diasio.com/
My plan is, I get huge rack time, don't take away from family time, and don't need to trailer (I would leave the car there). I would still attend an event or two (for the camaraderie), but probably with my tt.
Please give me your thoughts on the plan, car, clubs, safety, etc.; cost is not a big factor.

A country club for cars? I guess I need to get out more.
My only comment would be a single seater prevents driving with an instructor. Why not a Porsche Cup car or any other 2 seat track car and then a single seater later?

Pretty sure you can get the car with 2 seats (I would). Like I said, the 962R has 350hp, only 1,100 lbs., no cup car could touch it, ever, anywhere, under any conditions

I would rather go the Radical route. Room for a second, I think they cost less (Radical owners may chime in here)
Good thing is the Hewland FTR box is great and also used in the Formula BMW, Formula Mazda and many F-3 chassis. Also shares many internals with our Swift SG3 gearbox.. 'Great Kit' as my buddies at Hewland often say..

Lewis,
There is a similar country club for motorsports proposed between Phila and NYC called Apline Motorsports. the buy in is $40,000 and they break ground in the spring I believe. The prospectus on the place is almost to good to be true

I second the Radical suggestion. They seem to be a bit more refined than the Diasio. Either way they aree fun cars. There is a guy in our region that runs one of the lower hp Diasios and its a pretty neat machine. His take on the Diaso is that it is much cheaper to run than a Porsche.

You really don't need 300+ hp in one of these types of cars. 200hp is more than enough to embarass about anything on the track.
BTW CC,
You ought to ask Sunday about the Radical and Stohr since he has owned and raced both of those. I rode in his Radical with the 200hp engine and it was plenty. These are not toys.

Mitch,
I am still surprised at the concept of a 'driving' country club, but then again, I've never been to a regular or a golf country club either.
I'm wondering if you would get bored of driving the same track all the time. I sort of like PCA DE and getting to see/drive different tracks with different groups of people.

I had the opportunity to do a ride along last weekend at road atlanta, I did not drive it, but the car is amazing. It would certainly be a blast to drive as well as being challenging.

FWIW - I know the people that make the D962R, I know lots of other race builders and manufacturers, and lots of guys with really fast race cars.
The D962 is a ripoff compared to what else is available in the market. No way I would buy one. Ask SUnday Driver what he recommends. He has more experience than most here. Hell, maybe you can ask him at the runoffs next month.
If you want to do it right (and based on past history, there is no reason I would think that you would), I would get a SRF for $20k and learn to race a race car. Not drive some fast car at a DE that will always make you think you are a hero since you will be turning some fast lap times in it.
But thats just my opinion.
