Formula One - 2026 Season
I’d love to hear thoughts on who will emerge as the number one driver at Cadillac F1 in 2026. I’m a fan of both Perez and Bottas. They’ve both played supporting roles behind world champions. They’ve both secured poles, won races and scored many points. The question is, who will be the number one driver? I tend to view Bottas as a bit more of a precise, detail-oriented driver. I view Perez as more of a spontaneous driver who capitalizes on opportunities as they are presented. I think they will be a good team, but my money is on Bottas emerging as the number one driver. We’ll see soon enough. Both of them certainly have a loyal fan base. I expect to see lots of Cadillac F1 gear in the grandstands this year.

Have to admit, I am going to miss Marko in the paddock next year. Though I’m not as old as he is, I do remember him when he had both eyes. Good childhood buddies with Jochen Rindt… No nonsense. Would love to have had a chance to just sit down and listen to him talk about Formula One.

Who remembers the beginning of the turbo hybrid era when the engines were exploding all over the place in the first year? I think 2026's formula is more of a refinement of the existing engine, rather than a drastic new direction, so I doubt we see the same level of carnage.

Maybe I am misunderstanding how ATV works as I don't have it, but hopefully someone can correct me if I'm wrong..
Right now I pay ~$12/mo for F1TV, which gave me just F1 content.
Next year, I will have to get an ATV+ subscription for the same ~$12/mo, which will give me F1 + all of Apple's other original content.
How is that not a win? Am I missing something? Do I also have to get more subs after getting the ATV+ subscription?
From what I'm reading, I don't even need to buy an Apple TV device, I can just download the ATV app on my Roku.
Conceivably, I could even dump YouTube TV for like $90/mo since 90% of the reason I had that was for ESPN to watch F1...

I remember it well. But even though the ICE component is a derated version of the existing engine; (from my understanding), there is still the added complexity of a bigger battery and far more powerful EV component, so I actually think we’ll see an increase in ‘mechanical’ DNFs certainly early in the ‘26 season. Also, if you lose the electrical boost, you’re basically out of the race as there’s 1/2 of your ‘power’ gone.

I had *** as well and was reluctant to change from something I'd known all my adult life. Went to Apple TV 4k operating system for the TV even though there's built in apps, picked up Youtube TV at a 30-40% discount of cable TV with the same content, more DVR storage. Also picked up the best 4k TV from LG I could find and it's been incredibly amazing, especially with the F1 night races where you see everything.
Bishman dropped a little nugget of info that Apple uses highest bit rates for better video and audio, so looking forward to that upgrade as well!

With the revelation in this thread that Apple TV/F1TV will be showing all the support races, I'm looking forward to watching F2 this year. Does anyone know if Herta is with a top team like ART or other?
