I see many types available and want to get some feedback on your shift light experience. Anyone using the non pill, adj. RPM Proform Shift Light? The Autometer Monster is too big. I am considering a Stewart Warner shift light/tach in gage style-latest new style. But I wonder if the 40 dollar ones do the job? TIA Dal

I don't use a light, but have move the tach to the center hole in the cluster and rotated it so that the 6 was at the top. Then I just shift at six.
Works nicely for me.

I've used and like this one:

Click the "T-Sport" page... Cheap, easy install, and very visable.

I have the STACK tach which has shift lights and lap timer intergrated on the instrument. It works really nice. I did not think I needed shift lights till my first race where I could not really hear my engine from all the cars around me and I bounced the limiter once too many times. It is certainly a usefull tool in the heat of the battle so to speak

If you are looking at Tachs and shift lights, the pn's 6851, and 6852 look like they may fit your bill (Procomp style). The small shift lights only (no tach) have pn's: 5329, 5330, and 5331.

BTW, Im in the process of making a dash cluster right now that is flat faced (well, tilted back a bit) so I can install any gauge combo I like.

I like the Stack steering wheel w/ all the read outs on the wheel display....F1 style nice! But Stack is too pricey for a club racer. And the only reason for one is as mentioned above....to hear when to shift as my first race is about to happen. A good light flash will help me keep focused and keep my eyes ahead of me, until I get acclimated to the way the other brave souls are doing it by a glance at the tach. Dal

I'm looking for an led or similar layout I can install in-dash. I run an electromotive twin plug setup and an Autometer (model ?) monster tach. Any leads???????
I don't like the external shift lights.

I have an F1-style "countdown" shift light in my cup car:
I don't know the brand, but it's similar to the $99 T-Sport Rev-Lite:
Here's the Rev-Lite in an Evo:
The countdown lights are nice as they change color as you approach the shift point instead of just at the shift point. I use it to prepare to shift instead of just reacting, which can be useful in many situations. Here's a link to one of the places you can get one, and if you google you'll find plenty of others:

I run the AIM Mychron 3 Gold XG data acq system, which includes a dash... the dash, in addition to the usual LCD readout with rpms, lap times, and sensors, has shift lights (programmable) across the top (both sides coming in) and gear indicator in the center. I used it for the first time ever yesterday, and really liked how when you reach your shift point all the LED's (10-12 of them in this system IIRC, color coded) flash. When I'm having to shift while not driving straight ahead (which is nearly everytime at my home track, Waterford Hills) I can still catch the flashing lights.

Plus, since they're programmable, I have them set low right now for engine break-in. Furthermore, it's kinda nice to be able to go back in after the fact and analyse why you aren't going faster!
It's already shaved a second that I could not, for the life of me, get rid of last year! In one day! BTW, these systems start at about $500.
