Default Is anyone selling a full cage for a 993?

If anyone has any leads for a bolt-in cage for a sunroofed 993, preferably Safety Devices, I would greatly appreciate it.

As always, thanks!

If you jokers have nothing constructive to contribute to this thread, other than to harrass me, well, uh, okay.

C'mon Mark, that one just sat up and waited to be hit.

Its not like most of us don't have an ever growing 'gotta getta' list.

Tony,

I know I've said this before, but this time I really mean it: after the roll cage I'm done.

I just want to get a cage so I can run NASA. Been dragging my feet on it for a few months until Manny lit a fire under me today.

Eric,

I wasn't planning on it. I have no cage and have plans to do the club race at Summit in August.

If you plan on racing your car in NASA, get the rule book, study it CAREFULLY. Then get a good fab. shop or race shop to build you a cage that not only fits the car properly, but adds strength, rigidity, and safety.....which usually means a weld-in.

What does a weld-in cage typically cost compared to a cage like the safety devices cage? I know there is a big range but just looking for round numbers.

Thanks Mike

Mark,
I know a great shop in Indy that is very reasonable. Let me know if you want his info.

GUMBALL - Thanks. I'm just throwing the question out there to see how much used cages cost, if they're even available. I'm going to mostly stick with PCA racing but thought I would entertain the idea of doing some NASA events.

Greg - Thank you. I may take you up on that offer if no leads pan out.

The cost of a custom welded cage, provided you can find a good shop, will probably surprsie you. The guys who did mine, Piper Motorsports, are the best in my area (MD, DC, VA). I couldn't be happier.

My cage ran around $1800. It is a work of art and a million times better than a bolt-in SD cage, IMHO.

Just look at how the bar runs through the dash of my car, as opposed to in front like a bolt-in. Makes getting in and OUT a lot easier. I have also personally tested *doh* how well the rear chassis rail bracing works this year. With a bolt-in cage, w/o this stuff, I would have blown the fuel tank at SP back in March. As it was, I changed the bent wheel and kept driving.

Mark,

Just go to Mitch Piper and have him do your cage. Don't wast time with the bolt-in; you're gonna end up scrapping it later. Don't forget the body kit and banana wing. Don't think about all these things; just lay down the plastic. Your car has to look as mean as it sounds.
