Racing our 09 Cayman S
My wife is driving our PDK Cayman S with ProAutoSports (Phoenix Arizona club) in the Main Race on April 1st.
This is her second race weekend, the first was at The Podium Club and was uneventful and I didn't get any good video. This race was more fun because it was a tighter, shorter track with a lot more traffic. Nothing to write home about, just that I'm very proud that we have gotten to this point. I've had two back surgeries over the last 3 months, so she gets to have all the fun for now. For the next event at end of April at Chuckwalla, I should be ready to drive.

That's great. It's lucky to have a a spouse into racing that's gungho for doing it rather then just tolerates it . Did she do HPDE's before or completely new to track driving?

Yes, we've been at this for about 4 years. She has her own 19 GT3RS, we have both done many time trial events and HPDE's. We also have a track membership at the Podium Club in Casa Grande AZ. She holds the official street car track record at TPC for now. To hold the track record, you have to drive in the official Time Trial event for members only. So other street cars may have a faster lap, but hers is official. She won't see this so I'll say it. I've gone faster in the RS, but it's her record.

I'm 61, and she's 54, life is good.

Great thread! My wife was competitive back in high school, playing basketball and volleyball, so early in our relationship I got her a track day as a present. I instructed her for 7-8 events until she passed her solo check ride, and she recently moved up another level. She keeps narrowing the gap between us and it’s incredibly rewarding watching someone progress from day one, and fun to share the hobby together!
