Thanks..... Now opening the can of worms....
Any thoughts on having colder weather on having them shipped to central NJ. Weather seems to average over next few days of Low 22 to high of 45 (ish) degress. Assume close to the same the week after.
First race for me will be a bit earlier than expected -> VIR in march rather than the usual Glen opener, so could possibly just order early march.

The Pirelli slick has much softer sidewalls and you would run a lower target tire pressure than for the Z214. The Pirelli is therefore more prone to damage when cold but as a full slick it provides for better grip in terms of braking and cornering over the Z214. It is much easier and faster to bring the Pirellis up to temperature. I have found Pirelli slicks good for up to 5 - 6 heat cycles for good lap times (others throw them away earlier) before they fall off and you can probably run them for over 10 heat cycle as they gradually continue to degrade.
The Michelin slick has similar stiff sidewalls to the Z214 and is similar in terms of target pressures and also difficulty to get up to temperature. The Michelin slick has significant degradation after approximately 60 minutes of run time, whereas the Z214 drops off significantly after about 3 - 4 heat cycles. Being a full slick, the Michelin tire provides superior grip to the Z214 and I have also seen better lap times for the first 60 minutes for the Michelin slick over the Pirelli slick. Neither Michelins nor Z214s have been usable for me after the initial 60 minutes or 3 - 4 heat cycles as they degrade too much. You will also run less camber and softer springs for both the Michelin and A214 in comparison to the Pirelli slick. Currently new Michelin slicks are virtually impossible to come by.
Takeoff tires are a crap shoot as you never know what you actually get so I have no experience with that but based on the above I would avoid takeoff Z214s or takeoff Michelin slicks.
