Could do that, but instead, let me ask a top level pro driver, a Cayman/ GT4 CS specialist who also has high end 911 GT3 R/Cup experience, to chime in. May take a little while.
My impression and data indicates better braking and accelerative traction out for the 911 platform in general, better entry and cornering balance for the mid-engine platform, in general.

I, as well, have deep respect for Patrick Long.
Here are a few more tips from the longest tenured Porsche factory 911 driver since Walter:
One can even buy the training vehicle online, if you have 445 large:
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2016-porsche-911-r-9/
If you want to see him flog a '75 Carrera 3.0 RSR at Laguna Seca:
"Factory Porsche racer Patrick Long has a million-dollar historic 911 3.0 Carrera RSR from 1975 to pedal, less than half the horsepower of the fastest cars in the class, and uses every ounce of talent and racecraft he owns in a classic duel between overdogs and an underdog at Monterey."

One of the Most humbling thing i did was patrick taking me in my car for some hot laps (997RS). The speed of his hands and how far ahead of the car he is is just mind blowing. he did a bunch i the car without me. The studying the video and data i picked up in quite a few areas. Genuinely good guy.

Cool...what's with the finger gesture just before the 6 minute mark in the race video?

Probably a little frustration not being able to get by a less powerful '73 2.8 RSR. I don't think the ex Busby RSR was set up very well and looked like a handful, also might have been down on power. The '74 and '75 RSRs were very fast, no way a '73 could pull us.
Before pointing, Long turned the lights on-off. A good driver uses everything available to bother adversaries...even in a vintage event.
