PCA DE and Club Racing Minimum Age is 18 and a full Drivers License is required.

Dang, that stinks. Doesn't NASA or someone else allow younger ones? SCCA?

911cup and SPC are very close in laptimes, but 911cup is less expensive to run.

Really? Sure, at some places like Sebring (Dwayne SPC 1.5 seconds quicker than Dan 911Cup) and Road America (Adam SPC 1.5 seconds quicker than Dan 911Cup), but at others? Not so much.

VIR, shows 911Cup at a 2:09.XX (Dwayne) and SPC at a 2:04.XXX (Matt).

Road Atlanta, 911Cup (Dan) at a 1:37.0XX, SPC (Todd) at a 1:34.2XX.

Mid Ohio Pro, 911Cup (Mark) 1:40.0XX, SPC (Matt) 1:35.7XX

I like to look at this stuff (lap times, both fliers and the field average). Thanks, Rennpoints.

I love the old cars, but I think the SPC is a great compromise between a more modern, "all purpose" (DE and Club Racing) package and cost control in a spec series.

I have a friend who was racing with NASA at age 14. Another started in MX-5 Cup at 14. So there are options for teens, but PCA is not one of them.

If you want to do more than AutoX (like PDX) with SCCA if you are younger than 18, SCCA requires either a full driver’s license, a racing license or other relevant racing experience. Check your region’s rules as some States have special rules about minor drivers.

Thanks Frank. By the time I get going, he'll have his license. So, hopefully an opportunity to do something I love with the kid. They grow up fast.

Thanks Sebastian. Yeah, I saw it. I think I'd rather race a spec class. I see this class growing well beyond GTB1.

SPC is no doubt easier to drive. But there is sometime undeniably awesome about a torsion bar 911. If I had to pick just one, I’d take the 911cup!

You're not alone. Something definitely unique and awesome about the air cooled 911
