Default Question: Rennline Track Mats - how are they?

Basically the only thread I could find on this was from 2013 (https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...ing-one-2.html), but wondered if anyone's had experience with the Rennline Track Mats (https://www.rennline.com/Track-Mats/products/837/), what your impressions were, and any helpful idiosyncratic observations (i.e., the above thread recommended black over silver if you're bothered by scratch marks).

Also, any safety concerns with either it becoming loose on the track (due to a spin or worse, a crash)?

I ran one in my 987 Cayman S. No issues with safety or coming loose. However, I did not put one in my next car.

I've had different versions in a couple of different track cars. No loosening problems. Only had the silver and i would agree they do get pretty scratched up over time. Biggest downside is how slippery they can get when wet. However, you can solve that problem with a few strips of grip tape.

I have the same opinion - I have had them in a 993 and a Cayman (both silver mats), both dedicated track cars. They do get scratched up but they can be easily cleaned and with a little elbow grease and polish you can shine them up. I also put grip tape on them because I think they are too slippery, even in the dry with race shoes, while climbing in over the door bars. Never had an issue with them loosening up but you do have to take the time to install them correctly so they are screwed down tight.

Love mine. I find it to provides both protection and better heal grip.

I like how they utilized the existing plastic stud on the 981 carpet to make it fit. I improved it a bit - drilled a small hole through the center of the stud and used a wire-tie to firmly secure it in place. Works perfectly.

Why are they all smooth? Seems they'd be slippery. I see people adding grip tape, etc and wonder why they aren't made that way already? Has anyone line x'd theirs?

they are good. i had the black and would recommend the silver or live with the black chipping off exposing lots of silver "spots".. I did not put them in my next car.

Pick your poison: the silver apparently get scuffed up easily and the black ones eventually chip.

I found them to be too slippery, and had to take them out for track days, because the organizations I ran with didn’t allow floor mats. So I didn’t see the point in them.

I've never understood this either. Metal pedals as well.

I use them in my 993 and 997 street cars cause they are easier to keep clean them carpet.
