Foam Padding on Cage?

Foam Padding on Cage?
So stupid question...is the foam padding inside of track cars on the cage elements a hard requirement? I'm tall enough that this 1.5" stuff in a couple of spots wacks my helmet when I turn my head......just want to know if its a requirement for a safety reason so that I can either remove entirely or find something that is less thick.

There is low profle padding available, I have switched to this

Get the low profile foam if that does the trick. If your helmet still impacts the cage with normal movement, that's definitely not safe. Lower your seating position by lowering your seat or take out the seat cushion. Put foam padding everywhere that parts of your body could impact the cage in case of an accident, particularly your hands, elbows and ankles.

The low profile padding will definitely make a difference, another thing that may help is removing all the padding from your seat and pouring a seat insert. It helped with my issue of the stilo helmet cooling adapter top making contact in a spec boxster..
