the #2 bearing problem has been solved in germany.
The guy do NOT want to say what and how but it works. He race for years without this Problem now and he is the only one who solved this problem in the 951 and the 928 too ( which have a much bigger Problem than the 951).
even with 305mm big slicks in the front he do not has the oil problem in his car

I guess it's like the family that invented natal forceps but kept it secret for a number of generations.

no he will modify your if you wnat ut he will not give the secret for free.
It cost him a lot time and money till he found out what and why. now he wants to get some money for it. the 968 who finished the last 24H of Nurburgring had his modification too nad no problem after 24 hours at revs up to 7200 rpm

That's exactly what the forceps family did - charge, and only work for the nobility, with a curtain around the worksite. But I guess it's good business. Maybe he could patent it and get a royalty. Oh well. My plan is still the same: modified pan, collar on the oil pick-up, and at least 4 bar of oil pressure. I'm going to switch to Amsoil, pray a lot, and then change the rod bearings next winter. I have about 40 hours of track time on them now...

Konstantin.... Dry Sump?

To do the mods do you need to send the pan, block, girdle, crank?

(very interesting and trying to figure out!) Not details, just overall concepts.

If Konstantin is referring to the same guy who was discussed on the 928 forum - his modification is to the block girdle. He'll modify it if you send it - he was charging something like $400.

Jon Milledge will modify your girdle ( I mean your 944's ) for $180.

Check Jon Milledge's website. He modifies the girdle oil galleries ($180) and the block oil galleries ($180) to reduce oil pump cavitation, puts in the collar, the sump modification, an air/oil separator, big oil cooler. Re Nurburgring, 24 hours on a set of rod bearings is not unusual. Jon says all these modifications help, but the only bullet-proof method is a dry sump system. I'm not sure that any modification to the block alone will be a total fix, and in a track setting, it comes down to hours before overhaul. Anyway, at some point these engines cross the line and become racing engines, which means you overhaul them after x hours as a matter of course. Ferrari apparently goes through 500 F-1 engines annually.

lets say that a car who has yeras of racing on 305 mm wide slicks FRONT and REAR has survived. I think this is enough to show that it works..
put 18 inch 305 wide slicks on a 951 and make soem hard races. you will see what happens
