All event pricing is going to go up when you can not rely on instructed groups. Let's face it. Signed up and going.

I think Dave’s point may have been that some of his money is better than none, and I’m probably in that same boat. Wouldn’t mind a day to knock the cobwebs off, but don’t need two

I’m with you man. This hobby was never cheap to begin with. We’re all sucking it up this season to keep things going where we can.
Pay to play. I’m playing. Love this event. Feel bad for the region itself. Tough call for them either way. I’m in.

Phil, unfortunately the issue is if NJMP limits the number of cars we can not make enough money to cover our fees with one day only registrations. This isn't the format we chose but we have to play the hand we were dealt considering the circumstances (no students, no Porsche corporate sponsorship and Mid-O the same weekend)

We would LOVE to have offered the same pricing as last year and a single day option but we can not risk bankrupting our club in the process. We have to figure on worst case scenario of 50-60 cars. $475 all you can drive, one day or two and unfortunately if we don't have the head count then the event will get scrapped... Please show your support. The cost difference is probably the equivalent to two tanks of gas at NJMP's pump prices

I will be completely transparent, 60 cars at $475 is $23,750, we still owe $23,000 and are willing to sacrifice our $5,000 deposit to keep the event on, that is the reality of the situation. If we are capped at 60 cars there is no way for us to cover our remaining balance with one day registrations. You can see what we are struggling with here...

Almost there folks.

43 drivers registered.

Need a few more and hopefully the event is a go.

Imagine all that wide open track time with such a limited number of cars on the track. Can't beat that with a stick.

If you're on the fence, really consider signing up. I don't have a dog in this fight except that I want this event to happen (and as usual, my daughter wants to come and go Karting with me between run sessions both days).

How could you deny a face like this:

I'm inclined to go on Thursday despite my philosophical struggle with one day costing the same as two days...

In normal times, I completely agree with you, but these are not. I like think of it as supporting a great club during tough times. My $0.02

I'm only registered for Thursday and had the same thoughts. The 11th is my 30th wedding anniversary, and the 12th is my birthday (I will accept swedish fish on the 13th as a gift if you see me.)

All that being said, I want to do what I can to support the sport as all regions are up against this same financial crunch having lost the students who pay full freight.

I stopped celebrating birthdays at age 50, when Roosevelt was president.

That's TEDDY Roosevelt.

Last year was 50 and in the words of the late great Mickey Mantle - If I knew I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself.

50 is when the warranty expires.

I'll still accept gummy bears, cigars and beer on my birthday.

I did my second SCCA race school at Watkins Glen in 1968. I think I might be the fastest Old Fart.

Bill, Karl Topp might be older than you, though probably not quite as fast.

.....with emphasis on.........fastest

In spring of '68 I was 11 but after Jim Clark's previous showings at Indy (broadcast on radio then--a big deal) he'd become my favorite.
Then April 7 came along.
He and Moss are still my favorites.......

Can't speak to age but I can keep Karl in sight on track for a bit.
Bill, no chance in hell
