Applies in part to what's discussed here:

"Experts counsel not to attempt to extinguish a raging car fire yourself, but there are circumstances when you can try if you have a fire extinguisher. If there is smoke coming from under your hood but no flames, you can crack the hood slightly and spray at the gap from a few feet away"--> https://www.autoblog.com/2010/12/20/...-catches-fire/

More interesting will be when electric cars become more prevalent and start nosing around race tracks (i.e. Taycan). Far more difficult to extinguish and not unusual to catch on fire. So far I have not heard the PCA saying anything about it:

https://www.usfa.fema.gov/training/c...ak/061819.html

"Secure a large, continuous and sustainable water supply — one or more fire hydrants or multiple water tenders" https://www.firerescue1.com/firefigh...Dv8vd87oZ9ZKs/

Or this manual for the Tesla 3 - "3000 gallons of water" - https://www.nfpa.org/-/media/Files/T...-2018-QRG.ashx -
