I spoke to Mark Hicks at Chin before this announcement and he was very confident of July 1-2 before VIR July 4-5.

Gov. Cuomo today said that racetracks in NY can open and that includes Watkins Glen. No fans, social distancing, handi wipes, blah blah blah. but it can open.

I'm signed up--if it doesn't happen I'll give the gov a ride in the Min.

I've been told, from a reliable source, that WGI's covid reopening plan limits events to 50 participants. Going to be impossible to pay the track fees from that number of paying customers, if this is true.

Government-mandated limit or WGI self imposed, any guess?

From what I could gather from the e-mail, I believe its WGI that is limiting to 50, there is still conversation that is taking place in order to allow more than 50 that leads me to believe its the track and and not "The GOV" but cannot say for sure.

50 drivers? No problem, if the Glen cuts their rental price by 50%

Why would the track do that if they weren't told to? They'd be shooting themselves in the foot financially which is the last thing they need right now....makes no sense.
No, I'm not shooting the messenger

From theglen.com website. Another part of triangulation or strangulation on why what is happening.
Watkins Glen International
The Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, originally scheduled for June 25-28, will be rescheduled for the weekend of October 1-4, 2020. The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Michelin Pilot Challenge, Porsche GT3 Cup, and Lamborghini Super Trofeo events will run on the new weekend.

The SCCA Majors Super Tour, scheduled for June 19-21, and the Finger Lakes Wine Festival, scheduled for July 10-12, 2020, have been postponed until 2021. The rescheduled date for the Festival will be July 9-11, 2021. The SCCA Majors Super Tour event date will be announced in the coming weeks. Just FYI: The HSR Watkins Glen event, July 9-12 IS STILL ON. per email email sent yesterday. This event usually runs concurrently with the Wine event, but not this year.
