Transponders?

Also, where is the transponder mounted in or on the car? What are the considerations there?

I'm assuming the Westhold Hardwire Transponders that you can buy on ebay are not compatible with MyLaps and PCA Club Racing, is that the case?
Example here

It must be installed with a clear view of the track surface, preferably forward of the front axle line.

No. You need an AMB TranX 260 series to work.

Nice. There’s one in the UK eBay as well. $500 with about $25 shipping. I decided to go for a new x2 w/ 2 years on it. We will see where things are after that!
thanks for the advice on location. That explains why the used ones are a bit rough looking

Be careful w new ones. They've had issues w them. They say the bugs are worked out but my track support still sees problems. That's why I went after this one. Set and forget it.

I have seen them mounted on front tow hooks before. That’s as far forward as you can get if you want to beat somebody side by side to the finish line.

The older transponders seem to come up for sale regularly on apexspeed.com in the open classifieds section. Usually priced as mentioned here. I noticed one posted recently.
