911 E cars -> 911 CUP !!!!! Finally correct rules
#31
If for some reason you want to run a 911 in E stock I suggest you double-check the rules and / or contact Walt before changing to the serpentine belt and related underdrive pulley.

But no matter, no 911 is ever going to run in E again.
911CUP for the win.

For those that didn't see the pca cr email today:
PCA Club Racing Announcement - 2020 911 Cup
● D and E stock minimum weights are reduced by 150 pounds.
● F cars must run at their stock weight, subject to adjustment as the season progresses.
● D cars may replace the CIS with carburetors (see 2020 Prepared change to this effect), but may make none of the other Prepared modifications, or may run as E Prepared with all one class Prepared modifications but not carburetors, and should change the class letters on their car to E (because they are now Prepared).
● 911 Cup cars may run serpentine fan belts.
● All other stock class rules apply, and any eligible stock class tire may be used.
Question Should be sent to Jeff Wiggins wiggins.jeffrey@verizon.net

CHANGES TO 911 CUP FOR 2020

At one point in 2018 it was approved with a 25 lb increase but was then eliminated at the end of 2018. The 2019 rules do not allow it and as best I can tell there were not any 2019 updates to allow it.

Kinda wondering why 911 CUP, which is now in its correct originally intended form finally, is using the special TD tire single year failed experiment logo?
Can we drop the silly german stuff?
Let's go back to the original 911 CUP logo, please.

Has there been any discussion on allowing cars prepared to SP911 spec to run in 911 Cup?
They would likely need to add ballast given their HP and weight. Although if they were required to run their spec tires it may not be a lot of weight. And yeah, I know, no one likes to add ballast so maybe its a no go.
And yes, most of the SP911s are on the West Coast and the class is set up so they can run the same car in PCA, PRC and not sure what other race series.
However, it might be a nice option for those drivers of SP911 cars that have escaped CA, vs. being in a class with only 1 or 2 cars at events outside of CA. And would add to the 911 Cup field, and everyone seems to like more cars in their class.
I do feel bad for the Scrutineers that have to know all the subtleties.

Well, Clewett is gonna be pretty happy this week! (And I'm pretty stoked to lose the weight, and protect my motor).
I think we have to look at this move as long term investment in the continued participation of the air cooled cars. But I also believe it should come with changes to the rest of the letter classes.
D/E/F need to come together to form a new stock class so that the other E cars left have someone to race with. I also believe for this to work, air cooled cars should no longer be allowed to run in D, E, F. The new classing should be calibrated around those remaining cars so that the class is built for them! There are three consistent non-911 E cars running in the NE - if we don't get at least 3 additional 911s from D and F consistently, then what's the point?

The next point was to reduce weight.
Then it was to try to include D. And the F. To help increase size of race group. And help D and F since they never seem to have any numbers anyway.

Guess SOMEBODY could always sponsor a new logo and cover the cost of printing the banners and stickersif they felt very strong about it.

How bout we sideline the logo talk for now, and figure out how to reach out the two D 911s currently registered for Sebring and bring them over the cool kids?
Fred B. and Harvey R. - you guys on here?
Who can we entice from the Vintage crew? We need to spread the word!
