That's my car the boys are wearing as a hat. Fantastic job by Max and JoJo from Provost Motorsports dealing with my transmission issues. Lost 2nd and 4th gears midway in Race 2, but finished by driving most of the entire track in 3rd gear. (By the way, there's ZERO torque shifting 3rd to 5th coming onto the front straight!!!). Swapped out a "new" transmission Saturday night. Race 3 we blew a transmission seal on the "new" transmission after 4 3/4 laps. Pitted in without greasing the track and had a puddle of gear oil in our pit stall. The boys dropped the transmission AGAIN between Race 3 and the Enduro, re-sealed the transmission, replaced the clutch (which was encased in gear oil) and had me out there for the enduro. All work completed in two hours!!! I joked that a repair like that is six hours at the shop! Car ran ok, but was slipping on the 3rd/4th shift and was waaaayyy down on power coming onto the front straight. Turns out the new clutch (actually a new one out of the box from Sachs) was defective. Installed another clutch today in preparation of SP. Max and JoJo are wizards!!! Hoping for a cooler, drama-free weekend at SP.

Thanks to the Schattenbaum region for putting a great race weekend together. The weather was brutally hot but we survived it. I got my first two class victories, 2 front row starts (really rare in a 996 cup) thanks to a clever tire strategy, a 2nd overall and a cornersworker award.... Lots of great driving in red/white and very few incidents (well there was that car that was a bit of the pace on day 1...) What an amazing weekend.
I uploaded my videos of Sunday here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...ZGV0Z-jaS38c52
unfortunately I didn't insert my memory card all the way so no video of my qualifying lap (during sprint 1) or sprint 2

None that I am aware of. Eventually we will have to start rebuilding them. Right now that is way more expensive.
One thing that has been suggested is to use the stock pressure plate with the sport clutch to reduce shock on the gears.
Something to try at least.

Having just swapped a 2.7L transmission into my 986, there is not much if any advantage. On fast tracks you can stay in 4th a bit longer, but you lose ground on slow corners. The 2.7L transmission with low miles was $600 delivered, vs $1000 for the spb one. The SPB tranny supply is drying up so its reasonable to allow both imho.
