OK - I'll chime in here on a bunch of the questions above...
Re: Deer Fence - Per my friends at AER, the track has stated it is 85% done and that it will be completed in time for their event (which is the weekend prior to the PCA Potomac Rock the Summit Club Race)
Re: Lodging - For Club Race we have a special $97 rate held on a bunch of rooms at the Hampton Inn on the north side of Winchester (which is closest to the track) - here is the link: https://hamptoninn.hilton.com/en/hp/...l?WT.mc_id=POG
Re: Learning the track - what everyone else said above PLUS at Club Race, we will do the standard anyone-can-come Chalk Talk on Thursday evening and then on Friday afternoon after all the practice sessions end, we will have a track walk. I will announce who will be leading those as soon as I lock it in.
Re: Test and Tune - there are actually two available to you this year prior to Club Race. The first one is hosted in conjunction with AER prior to their event and they will be accepting PCA Club Racing licenses that day. So, if you want to do a shakedown a week prior to the event, that is an option. For anyone that takes that option and wishes to just leave their trailer in Summit Point until the next week, we can store trailers at our home (we have 3 flat acres).

- Thursday, September 12th: Open Practice Hosted by Precision Track Time http://msreg.com/2019summit (one week prior to the race)
- Thursday, September 19th: Open Practice Hosted by the track (not PCA) http://msreg.com/PCAPotomac

If that was directed at me,
I may take you up on that if you don’t mind. I might have an instructor lined up for the first session but it’s tentative at this point.
Will be my first trip to SP so a right
seater for the first session would be a HUGE help.
Thanks. Stay in touch.

The Sleep Inn on Costello Drive in Winchester has a Summit Pt rate of 75.00 per night. Plenty of dining options in Winchester and it is fairly convenient to the track. I stayed in Charles Town once but the room rates seemed to be quite high, maybe because of the casino.

I stayed in Winchester (more food choices) for twenty-five years but have used the Hampton Inn in a Charles Town for the last eight or ten and been very pleased.

I booked Holiday Inn express in Charles Town with an IHG member rate. Not $75/night, but not $250/night either.
Close to track (looks like about 20 minutes), and really close to the Casino.
Not sure about food options in Charlestown, but I'll make do with whatever is there. (Any dining suggestions in Charles Town would be appreciated).
Now I just need to learn the SP line.
Thanks all....

Royalicious Bakery for breakfast on the run (open at 6 AM weekdays, the diner is good and the Thai place is pretty good. The steaks and wine list at the high end restaurant in the Casino are pricey, but it is as “fine dining” as you will find around there.

Here is the best free explanation of how to get around Summit Point main there is, IMO
https://pcapotomac.org/attachments/a...k_guide_v2.pdf
This year is the thirtieth anniversary Dan Dazzo and I first worked together as classroom instructors at Summit and he has done an exceptional job with this presentation.
Yes, there are some options here (I prefer the far left entry into T6), but the track is relatively straightforward and not hard to learn.
The biggest divarication from accepted practice of entering high at turn in when learning other tracks is that at the exit of Turn 4, prioritize speed through Turn 4 by fully tracking out left of center (LOC), then brake and turn in from LOC for T5. This is what the data supports.
While some try to scooch the car mid track or even assume the normal position turning in to T5 from ROC, IF you are doing T4 well, you CAN’T get the car ROC and still get the car whoa’d up enough and in a stable way. If you can track out of T4 and get ROC for T5, you’re not going fast enough...

Three Wheelin'
As before Racers360 Summit Point Track Breakdown on YouTube is short, but excellent. Several of us, but not too many stay at the Quality Inn in North Winchester just off 81.Call them direct for track rate. Paid $87 a night this past weekend. A strong 2.5 stars. Nice rooms with microwave and refrigerator. Next to Denny's but have their own free continental breakfast. Sheetz across the street and Texas Roadhouse on the other side of 81. Also a Taco Bell and McDonalds. 20 minutes to track.
