It’s more than seven HUNDRED feet between right shoulder at the 2 mark and turn-in, more like 765 to the apex.
Because people can’t see it, and because they’re not braking efficiently, they tend to take far more distance to scrub off the same speed differential they do going into T1.
I’ve seen numerous production based cars at speeds greater than the mustang slow in plenty of time to negotiate the corner optimally.

Many cars can. In a spec Boxster it's about the 2/3 point but I need to carry braking all the way. I have no idea why he didn't follow the track and stay on them. He should have been able to whao it up enough to go over the top gently if not make the turn.

Torches are to shed light and pitchforks are for punishment. In this case he passed them out for others to use against him. Was it a blasse attitude or lies? Lies for others or for ones own sake? Contrition is one of the many things my Father taught me through spankings, ney, whooppings.

like other have said, I am not sure why he didn’t try to turn the car while on the brake.

Lots of cars/drivers can brake at the 2 marker. The question seems to be how far past the 2 marker most cars/drivers can brake. I'd be surprised if many can do it at the 1, and the consequences of trying and finding out that you can't do it can be pretty bad, as these two drivers discovered.
