Seats move a lot more than you think. This is a newer car prep’d by a top shop...watch the top of the esses: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zLtChQBj4vg
Either way, a seat which moves that much is a little scary to me.

Regarding comments on tech inspection at Chin events, for the last 2 Chin events I attended, April and June at COTA this year, tech consisted of turning in your signed tech sheet, and there was no requirement for a shop to do the inspection, it was acceptable to self inspect. With Chin at Barber last year in July, tech inspection consisted of a less than 1 minute look-over of my car and taking my signed inspection sheet.

Wow. That seat moves a lot. My Cobra Sebring seat does not flex anything like that and I weigh over 220 lbs. Of course my seat is bolted on one side to a steel plate welded to the tunnel and the other side is an aluminum bracket bolted to the floor.

After some big accidents, my old shop built the seat frame into the cage, not through the unibody floor panels. Also, NO sliders. Way too much slop.

decade + ago we had lively discussions here on proper seat mounting and cage building. Remember John H aka "Redlineman"? He was quite the professional fabricator very willing to share ideas to keep us safe.

My wife and I share our MX-5 Cup, so I had the seat on sliders. I found that in about 6-9 months the sliders developed enough slop that the seat moved too much. Went through two sets of sliders, and finally fix-mounted the seat and made a bead seat for my wife.

Someone needs to get this video to the GT3 driver if he doesn’t already have it.

That is the correct way to do it. What tube frame cars have done forever and what the better built cars are still doing in Porsches and the like. Porsche (and others) went to the movable pedal boxes to remove sliders from the equation.

I thought they did that the same as the RSR? https://www.porsche.com/internationa...turesandspecs/
FIA spec if you are curious https://www.fia.com/sites/default/fi...acing_seat.pdf
