Default oil analysis

I have a 987.2 that I have b been racing for 6 seasons usually about 4-5 weekends per year. It started its race life with about 46k miles and has just over 50k now. I am seeing the lead number escalate a bit. it was 47 ppm on 1200 miles and this last check its 27 ppm on about 500 miles. Suggestions?

Thanks,

Mike

I remember a discussion a while back where someone else had the same issue. Responses suggested leaded race gas somehow getting mixed in with unleaded at the track.

Are you using race gas? Even unleaded high octane (98 and higher) has trace lead levels street gas does not. That can be a contributing factor.

Mike, UOA's can show an occasional spike in "wear" metals...have you used a different oil type compared to what you have regularly been running ? Have you added an oil cooler or changed anything related ? 47 PPM ? I wouldn't bat an eye on a race car. Keep up the UOA's and see if it's a trend or just a particle streak.

If you had previously used leaded fuel your lead numbers may take awhile to be accurate.
