Duck Waddle passed away
He was a staple around Road America and other tracks in the region.
A great post I pulled up about him:

He was the chief instructor for my first PCA DE @ Road America, Memorial Weekend 2004. It's not going to be the same without him around the track.

I was fortunate enough to work with Duck for many years. He's with Sue now, his beloved.
What a remarkable man...

Great guy and will be very much missed. My first time at Road America running in a Skippy race a long time ago . He pointed me in the right direction on track and was always there to answer anything I asked . Truly a special guy that impacted my life . You will be missed but not forgotten

I was one of the lucky few that worked with Duck over a number of years when Chicago Region hosted events at Road America. Memorial Day and Labor Day every year.
This was before the enlighten times, when we would run an autocross on Road America and timing was run from the old pagoda. We had chicanes at the end of every long straight before the corners (for safety) and still wrecked several cars every weekend just past the chicanes. After much debate at the region board meetings we decided to run an open lapping drivers ed event. Duck was the driving instructor for the weekend and was famous for the class room sessions he led during the weekend. We'll always remember a couple duck-isms from that first DE event (repeated often later):
Don't be a "sleaze-ball early apexer" used as a noun and verb, and "The safest spot on the whole track is the apex of turn 5. Because no one EVER hits the apex of turn 5."
The next time your at Siebkens Bar, raise a cold one for Duck. He will be deeply missed.

In 2004 I did my first DE at Road America, and went out with Duck in the Skippy van with 7 other people while it was raining. He stopped the van in the Carousel and gave the greatest tactile demonstration of where the grip is in the rain that I've ever seen. Just met him that once, but what a great guy.
