I spoke to the front office and they said the big track is closed for most of January because they're resurfacing it. So unless there was some miscommunication, it's happening.
By the way it's incredibly expensive for them to do this. That's a problem with all road courses--great income, but huge maintenance costs.
This will/would be great, however there at least three events on the calendar in Jan for the 2.5 - 1/18, 1/23, 1/26, and open testing on 1/11 (not confirmed), so it appears they need to be sone by at least 1/17.

Wow, that's a surprise. I thought they were just resealing it. That's quite an incredibly expensive job since it means getting rid of the existing pavement.

Dement spoke to them this afternoon as well. Seems to be a hybrid - ground down the bumps and sealed the cracks, and the re-coated. Not sure how much new asphalt,
