Default knife edge crank

here is a shot of a crank I just knife edged. This took 3.5 lbs from it.

Out of curiosity, did you put it on a lathe and spin it to do this to ensure it's still balanced?

Hey Al, how are you.

I have tooling that I made to be able to do this.

Yes, I balanced the crank after the modification. You actually do not spin it in a lathe to balance it. We have a balancer to do this. There is no way to balance a crank or anything in a lathe a lathe does not have load cells that could tell you where the areas of imbalance are. It actually came damn close to even balance after the mod since an equal amount of materail was removed from the counterweights which are spaced 180 degrees apart.
