Race Car Windshields
Excellent thread - - and very timely !!
What thickness Polycarbonate do you all use for race cars - 1/4" or less ?
I just spoke with Shields and they provided great customer service to answer my questions.
TIA,

I think mine is 1/4". I've been racing with PC windscreens for ~10 years and have to replace it about every 2-3 years - not because I must but I just like it with less scratches. When you clean it using Plexus and a microfiber cloth, the scratching is minimal.

Good info on the polycarb windows, thanks! Do you guys get the standard oversize or pay the extra $45 per window with Shields? This would be for 996 front and back if it matters.

Shields has had a price increase but will honor the Web site price if you call and talk to Peggy - the sales person.
They are 4 weeks out on the manufacturing schedule - so need to plan for that also.
Their plant is in Indiana near Indianapolis - FYI
Thanks to Tom and all for your excellent information,

We get 2 strong years out of a windshield without any issues. Glass always even with tearoffs can crack and your out of race. Poly is as stronger or stronger than glass windscreen.
