Another gap in my knowledge? People always say to me their GT3 is the best thing they have ever driven. Smooth, balanced, shifts like butter??

BGB 4.0 and a multilink rear suspension conversion 😛

what is the consensus on ZL1 1LE for cooling issues and overall track durability? Completely personal but a much more appealing car than the Vette IMO.

I've not driven one yet (whereas I've driven a lot of Z06's) but folks I know who have them say they're good to go! Totally solid

I loved the old Z28 camaro and have been surprised by the depreciation. I really hope the 1LE zl1 does the same thing! I want one!

I’d recommend you look at a Viper ACR Extreme. Crazy fast and very predictable. They are also holding there value much better than Vettes.

You can't actually get a ZR-1 unless you pay over sticker. True?

What is it about Corvette drivers? Does anyone setup their Corvette with a roll bar and a 5 point harness?

Battleship, some of you guys are really tough on vettes here.

I feel like it’s the wheel base as much as it is driver position fore/aft. The cayman wheelbase is much shorter than the C7.

No, you haven’t missed anything. The 991.1 GT3 is everything you mentioned. To me, it has an edge that can be intimidating. The GS doesn’t have that edge. The GT3 jumps into the power band so quickly and I think that’s the difference. I call it poking the bear when you drop the hammer in the GT3.

In the older Vettes I always got the feeling I was playing a video game and not driving - the nose looked so big it was hard to feel connected to where I was actually steering. I did a few laps in a C7 and it was definitely better, but still felt big. I'd take the steering feel of a Cayman R any day. Raw power is another story.

Guess how many R's are left in the whole world . . .

Not many.

So, you guys think it won't become a collector's item. I'll take that bet.

Curious, what are your plans for the car then? cash in or preserve it? I checked the Excellence guide and was surprised at the premium vs an S. It's stated as +20k. High value of 65k. I think most stickered in the mid to high 70s.

I think I already ruined mine though. 50k mi, track rash, some of the interior is missing. Oh well.

Regarding the Camaro the Zl1 is a really fast car that is really heavy. So if you are on a track with many corners it is too heavy to manipulate very well. We were at NCM this past weekend with the corvette group and there were lots of the Camaros and they seemed slow to me. I think they are almost 4000 lbs.
