Default Camber for 996 (Track Use)

996 track car. Full solid suspension, LCA's, camber plates, total adjustability. Running Ohlins R&T with 343/686 spring rates.

Corner balanced and currently at -3.8F, -3.3R. Running NT01's.

Camber seem about right? I'll know more in 2 weeks at the track - just looking for folks with (possibly) SP996 or H class experience.

Too much camber for a Nitto. Even if you flip them you're going to wear out the edges before the middle.

I ran 3.0 /2.4 on Nitto's for 3-4 years on my GT3 (600/750lb springs) and it was damn near perfect. Flip them half way through the life and they'd wear evenly all the way to the cords. I also ran this setup on my '99 C2 with H&R clubsports (450/800 springs)

I still run them as practice tires but my setup is geared towards my primary tires. Current setup is 3.7 / 3.0 (750 / 900 lb springs) and it's too much for the nitto's in my opinion. Not much pace difference between the two so you're not going to be giving up any pace with your setup, you'll just be wearing out tires prematurely for no good reason.

Andy may well be correct but I'd have someone take temps on those fronts before I'd change anything....

Weird spring rates, I'm not a proponent of heavy springs but you shoudl probably be in the 600/800 range or better assuming the car weighs 2900 or more w/driver. It looks to be really listing to port in your avatar pic....

Agree with taking temps first but I also believe too much camber for NT01

Also agree springs way too soft for a solid bushing car with remote reservoir dampers

Running NT01s with 3.2 F / 2.8 R on 700/900 springs on a solid mount C2 and have very even tire wear.

Those are the standard rates that come with the Ohlins. The list to port is due to a right turn . That was with the older X74 suspension anyway.

thanks everyone - I’ll get it down to where the suggestions came in - max of 3.

for what it's worth my 3.0 / 2.4 numbers were refined with the use of a proper probe pyrometer over the years. It was the best balance of speed and wear across the tires. I'd flip half way through their life and NEVER corded a tire on the inside or outside edges, they'd always cord right near the middle. For ultimate speed without regard for tire wear I would have probably run in the 3.2 / 2.6 range.

...but no two cars are the same and yours is going to be different with the soft front springs...it's well worth the $100 or so for the entry level probe pyrometer to really be able to refine your final setup.

I guess we're all assuming you're running the 245/315 combo on your car...likely with 9" and 11" wheels. Lots an lots of variables but for the most part something within my suggestions should get you a good baseline to work from.

I run 275/335 NT01s on 10/13 wheels with JRZ remote canister shocks and 1400/1500 springs. Car is 3100lbs and camber is -3.4F/-2.5R. Great set up and both front and rear tires wear dead even across without any tire flipping. I get 12 sessions per set (3 day weekend) normally before grip takes a nosedive and tires are discarded.

Yes. That's the setup. I'll try the 3.0 that you mention. I do have a pyrometer as well.
