CGT cigarette lighter or power?

It isn't easy to spot, if you open the glove box, and look at the glove box's "ceiling" so to speak, it's a small piece that you push in, then it drops with a tilt.
You push it back in, when you need to stow it away.
Not exactly practical, but essential for the battery tender, or for phone charging.

Didn't think you could charge off of it?
Anyhow, its not a great way to charge your car because the charger unit can easily become unplugged. My Porsche dealer installed one in the back and it snaps securely in and shows the state of the battery, etc. Much, much better...

Just seemed more convenient to hook it up from the cigarette lighter & so far so good.
But please correct me, if there were any "not so obvious" reasons that make the cigarette lighter the inferior method.
Thanks

For me, I dont like the power cord running out the window. Running the cord through the rear wheel is more convenient for me.
