I drove my CGT to go wash a 959 S for my buddies at Curated not long ago. Being so up close and personal with one of these unicorns was a very cool experience!
When I get back to my Santa Barbara home (we are away for some real winter weather in our mountain cabin), I will pull out and scan a goodly number of factory photos I took at different times during the 959 production. I used to see so many 959s in the 80s during production and saw a significant number of them on the back lot awaiting shipment. The rest I would see inside Werk I when visiting the racing parts shop. I did this for the 928 guys from 1977 when the 928 first was being assembled and the 928 forum appreciated those. (I am lucky to be in Zuffenhausen during important times!). Maybe your 959 will be spotted!
It is a small world! On a Porsche forum…That is my ~1998 Freightliner Argosy model that I sold in 1999 back to Freightliner. They sold it to Bruce Canepa to turn it into a car hauler to sell it back to me. I never followed through and went and bought a Kenworth instead. Amazing to see that truck still around.

Yes we visited summer 2022. They had that prototype plus a nice clean silver 959 next to it. They do rotate the displays so not sure if its still there now.
Does anyone know if it is commonly accepted that there are 30 or even 31 959 Sport US versions made? He refers to 31 here. And wasn't 30 a remake of sport chassis #19 that was not used?
Does anyone know which was the last one made?
Ben - I tried to contact you via PM, but I see you haven't been on Rennlist in some time.

The USA Sport vin#'s where differentiated from the Komfort's by the 14th digit.
The 14th digit for USA Sports had the number "5"
The 14th digit for EURO Sports and Komforts had the number "0"
And yes, the USA Sports had "AutoFlug" Harness, and the mounting was on top of the rear parcel shelf, while the Euro Sports had "Matter" Harness', and the mounting was through the rear parcel shelf, through a belt opening.
A lot of emphasis has been put on "the last" one produced, etc.... 959's did not follow this type of sequential production,
Example:
#900064 was actually the 192'd 959 produced
#900276 was the 16th 959 produced
the only VIN# i am aware that actually correlates to their production number is #900123 which is the 123rd 959 produced
**Any 959 owner that would like more information about their vehicle, please get in contact with me by email or by PM**
